TUTORIAL Disappearing 9Patch with scalloped edges/ 9Patch quilt terminado con ondas

Disappearing 9Patch Block with  2 Charm Packs 'Plum Sweet ' fabrics by Blackbird designs.
As usual I don't want to talk about Tutorial, it seems arrogant to me, such pattern it is known enough, but
what I want, looking for my own design, is to explain  what I do for sashing my blocks.

First of all I arranged my blocks into different layout, having all of them 4 new-born patch as a result of cutting the 9P, they are combined as a 4 - 5"P in a frame and secondly the most used as a X's block.
Laying blocks : 3 rows by 3 columns alternating in between  them : 9 B in total .
 ************************

design Block 1
design Block 2

I decided sashing each block in 2 sides as I learned from Jenny from the Missoury Star Co. here ,
I like so much her know-how on make it easier and how she explains. In case you never seen before would be interesting.
By cutting a 3" wide and long WOF strip ( white in my case) , over it lay down one block behind other in chain, you can stack and sew at a time along the strip to speed this up .
After sew all of them in the strip, trim leftover intro the measure of your block square.
Making the same for the second side ..sashing in chain , you will have each block with 2 sash corner.
Playing with ..I didn't disposse all the same  and come out as they go down..funny !
Have a look :
**************************

Sewing Face to face over strip/  Cara a cara sobre la tira

Mismo resultado en cada bloque /  Each block has same white corners.

One sashed corner is first to the left hand right up , second to the left down..alternate , second row rotate.

All have been unified with a narrow white band 2.5".

And the second TUTO here is about scalloped edges (you can find also here)and I want to show you an easy and cheap way to do that As usual by using tissue paper as a pattern and a plate as a 'ruler' .
I would make a scalloped edges of 11" width around all (4 sides)
After add 12" of flower print fabric from same design...I have placed  tissue paper over the print frame and by using a dish I drawn the ripples, smoothing in between them for easy binding.
Better take a look, is easy and measures are in the pictures....

    8 " diameter

Traced a diagonal to place  better corner ...

And now....before to place template  and to cut on fabric ...you should enhanced in my case by FMQ
meandering , or whatever you want ....

About 70 " width and square Quilt.

IMPORTANT : Do NOTstrongly mark the waves .

Coming soon the binding...I will show you next week.../ Proxima semana el bies para terminar.

Happy week and thanks for your interest on my work/ Nos vemos pronto las colegas del viernes !

If you remember this post  I promise a tutorial..I'm sure most of you know already how to make them..
but let me show measures ...easy ! :
***************

Looking a good strip size ...LOL

*********************
Important here is to know in which direction you will sew the white 2.5"square over strips....it depends on the position around the print 2.5" sq.
*********************
Miradlo bien.... :-))

After each strip be sure to trim leftover and square accurately/  Cuadrar bien despues de c/tira

It is not an important tutorial, there are no secrets..I know! I have to say that looking for my own design it comes up a flower, a Tulip; making 2 blocks equal in pairs I found a Star. End of this chapter  :-))
What could be nice is make them in a blanket or lap quilt..in good fabric combination.

I finish with a white sash 2.5 "width  in between them...I would have prefer make the border white as well, but at last is made matching fabrics Avalon (Moda) with my other cushion...I love together, both are 20x20"
Is quilted by 'Stitch in the Ditch' and has a polyester wadding.
****************
El acolchado 'stitch in the ditch' y de  poliester.

Did you see a flower ???  or did you see only a Star ???

Backing with white linen fabric enclosed as envelope with Avalon red strip an bias inside.
Binding green Avalon fabric as well.

 Hope you like it !
Happy weekend  all of you !
**************

Log Cabin series

Some of you , if you are reading my blog (Hello !!) know that I like Pinwheels so much ..and I made some of them that you can find, here here, and here crazy about windmills ....
Now  I'm learning about Log Cabin , always was fascinated in some available combinations that colleagues make with them...put together and matching same block the result came up quite different, ..is incredible , I will make a long size quilt , but first I need to know how they works...

Here  you can see ... , but I was playing yesterday making (as you go, as usual ) and  looking for a project with Log Cabin block and I found how to combine both patterns .., I mean , join pieces for a Phinwheels arranged as a Log Cabin block . Inspired me this I made time ago , having fun with a 2.5" with small triangle over a side...the result can vary so so much ..(you will see later on what I mean ...giggles )

     2.5" strips with a small triangle (sewing over a 2.5 sq...you know already !

    ...a variation.
...a simple and nice 'fliying geese making a windmill  (Pinwheel ,windmill)

More 2.5 inches strips with a small triangle....making a block following clockwise

For me that is a kind of log Cabin (  I know..nothing need to be invented !!) LOOK AT block's centre

...all pieces turning around one square centre ..it is also a hexagon.
And I found a TULIP !!! yes my new project is a Tulip in the stars !! Take a look :

A particular Log Cabin...pieces are displaced from the centre  forming a Tulip Flower...I love it
This fabrics are Avalon from Moda , love the colours and combinations ..( leftover in my stash...)

yep !! right side is wrong !!! following the clockwise !

Is a Star Tulip ...lol

Important back seam allowance's  direction

This is the sketch I found ! Measures it will come later .
Stay tuned..I will post a Tutorial next week...you can post in you facebook page or whatever ..
Have a wonderful week  :-))  /  Feliz semana entre costuras !

Sorry Spanish friend, I have not time..but I'm excited to show you the avatars from a Quilter without method, looking by my own ..when I can !! ( giggles )
